Testers' experiment:
When the ambient temperature for formaldehyde adsorption by bamboo charcoal is raised to 35°C, its adsorption capacity at high temperatures is found to decrease. Each 100 grams of bamboo charcoal can adsorb 410 milligrams of formaldehyde.
From this perspective, under high-temperature summer conditions, the adsorption capacity of bamboo charcoal for formaldehyde decreases significantly, while the release rate of formaldehyde increases markedly.
According to Dr. Huang Shaodan of the Building Environment Testing Center at Tsinghua University, formaldehyde molecules exhibit high reactivity at elevated temperatures, making them prone to desorption from activated carbon adsorption sites; conversely, at lower temperatures, activated carbon demonstrates strong formaldehyde adsorption capacity, but this capacity diminishes as temperature rises.
From this perspective, bamboo charcoal should be kept away from excessively high-temperature environments to prevent a decline in its adsorption capacity.
For bamboo charcoal that has reached adsorption saturation, it can be exposed to direct sunlight or moved to a well-ventilated area and dried with a hair dryer. Reactivating the activated carbon at high temperature will restore its adsorption capacity.
